Top Ten of the 90s

Here is my long overdue top ten films of the 90s. This was extremely tough so I want to throw out honorable mention to a bunch of films I considered for the list but for one reason or another didnt quite make it. Here are the honorable mention films, aka films that didnt quite make the list but are what I would consider of extemely high quality:

Casino, Goodfellas, Tombstone, Unforgiven, American Beauty, Scream, Reservoir Dogs, JFK, The Game, Fight Club, Waiting for Guffman, Glengarry Glen Ross, Schindler’s List, Jurassic Park, and Fargo.

And onto the top ten:

1. Shawshank Redemption

2. Pulp Fiction

3. Se7en

4. Usual Suspects

5. Hoop Dreams

6. LA Confidential

7. Leon

8. Heat

9. Dazed and Confused

10. Leaving Las Vegas

Let me know your thoughts, and let me know what movies I forgot. I am sure I missed some.

  1. godDAMN, Shawshank Redemption totally deserves the place you’ve given it.

i also dig how you use the “correct” title for The Professional. 😉 but of course you would.

  2. I gotta say, I was shocked to see Shawshank Redemption on the list at all, let alone at the top! It’s definitely one of my favorites–my husband calls it “a chick flick without any chicks.”

Your list, however, has a decidedly male signature … I guess that’s acceptable! 😉 I enjoyed many (not all) of your Top 10 selections myself (yes, even Leon), but I gotta be honest: I don’t think any of them would’ve made mine. (Might have to make one of my own … hm.)

    Fun post!
